Brian Fuata with Daniel Jenatsch

Performance

Brian works with improvisation both as a method and material, shaping each performance in response to the space, context, and people present. Rarely repeated in the same form, his works unfold through a mix of movement and unscripted interactions that generate a charged presence in the room.

Instruction & Entertainment (minor gestures) is a suite of comedic, structured improvisations that activate Erin Manning’s theorisation of the minor gesture as a convivial mode of sensing and recalibrating the psychic and material conditions of the art fair. Realised in situ, the performance is co-produced through relational attunements to the building’s networked assemblage of human and nonhuman actors. In live correspondence, Daniel Jenatsch and Brian Fuata generate a sonic collage of spoken word and vocalisations, emerging from multidimensional interactions with the audience, architectural environment, fair staff, and the dispersed field of art objects.
