Launched at ART SG 2026, the ART SG FUTURES Prize Presented by UBS, awards USD 10,000 to the most outstanding emerging artist featured in the fairʼs FUTURES sector. The FUTURES sector features young galleries established within the last ten years, presenting new artwork by rising talents, specially created for ART SG.
The introduction of this prize underscores ART SG and UBSʼ commitment to nurturing and spotlighting new talent, not only benefiting the individual artist but also enriching the broader art ecosystem by fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of creative voices.
The 2026 ART SG FUTURES Prize Presented by UBS
ART SG and UBS awarded the inaugural ART SG FUTURES Prize Presented by UBS to Filipino-Canadian inter-disciplinary artist Marigold Santos at ART SG 2026. The prize awards USD 10,000 to celebrate outstanding work within the FUTURES sector of ART SG and reflects ART SG and UBSʼs shared commitment to nurturing and spotlighting new talent, fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of
creative voices. The FUTURES sector showcases new artwork created specifically for the fair by rising talents, presented by young galleries established in the last ten years.
Santos was selected by a jury consisting of Alessio Antoniolli, Director, Triangle Network; Venus Lau, Director, Museum MACAN; and Khim Ong, Director, Collection, Public Art & Programmes, Singapore Art Museum. She was represented by Canadian gallery Patel Brown at ART SG 2026. Jin Yee Young, Co-Head UBS Global Wealth Management Asia Pacific and Country Head UBS Singapore, said: “UBS is proud to be part of the inaugural ART SG FUTURES Prize Presented by UBS. This award highlights our dedication to enriching the wider art ecosystem and supporting emerging talent. This year, we also continue our community enrichment programs through our “Art for Allˮ initiative where we invite the public to experience crafting messages of love and the craft of recycling at our public UBS Art Studio. Through the initiative, we are delighted to raise awareness about sustainability, public engagement and the transformative power of art.ˮ
About the artist
Marigold Santos was born in the Philippines, and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1988. She pursues an interdisciplinary art practice that examines diasporic lived experience and storytelling, presented within the otherworldly. She holds a BFA from the University of Calgary, and an MFA from Concordia University. As a recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, she continues to exhibit widely across Canada. Her recent solo exhibitions include SURFACE TETHER at the Art Gallery of Alberta 2019 MALAGINTO at Montréal, Arts Interculturels MAI) and the Dunlop Art Gallery in Regina 2019, the pace and rhythm of time, floating at The Southern Alberta Art Gallery SAAG) and Patel Brown, Toronto 2023. In 2023, she was longlisted for the Sobey Art Award. Santos maintains an active studio practice and resides in Treaty 7 Territory, in Mohkinstsis/Calgary.
