About the Prize
The SAM ART SG Fund returns for its third year at ART SG 2027, continuing its commitment to supporting Singapore Art Museum (SAM) in building its collection of international contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective.
With SGD 250,000 dedicated to acquiring significant works by leading and emerging artists presented at ART SG 2027, the benefactor-led initiative strengthens the connection between artists, galleries and institutions while contributing to the continued development of Singapore’s arts ecosystem.
Supported by patrons Carmen Yixuan Li, Pure Yichun Chen, Pierre Lorinet and anonymous donors, with advisory guidance from ART SG Founding Director Shuyin Yang, the Fund enables significant works encountered at the fair to become part of SAM’s permanent collection and, in turn, accessible to audiences through the museum’s exhibitions and programming.
Building on its successful inaugural edition, the SAM ART SG Fund returned for a second year to ART SG 2026. With the support of Pierre Lorinet, in addition to the founding benefactors Carmen Yixuan Li and Pure Yichun Chen, the fund was increased from SGD $150,000 SGD $250,000 to acquire works presented at the fair for the Singapore Art Museum’s permanent collection. The fund reinforces the fair’s role as a key platform for discovering and collecting significant work, while strengthening the museum’s collection of international contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective, making a meaningful contribution to Singapore’s arts ecosystem.
The following works have been acquired. Following acquisition, the works will be presented through SAM’s public exhibitions and programmes, supporting arts education and broadening public access to contemporary art.
