The film shows a young androgynous person moving from room to room in an old Viennese apartment, always collapsing, shaking and finally falling into a wardrobe as a doubled figure. They are watched by a man who is unconcerned about what is happening. His elegant clothes are suddenly soaked with water, as if his body were weeping. Sigmund Freud described hysteria as a kind of conversion neurosis in which the psyche transfers the body into an equivalent. In 1st Part Conditional, this state also extends to the interior and thus the dancer performs a strange choreography with the furniture.
