Meet Eva Here by Shavonne Wong invites audiences to engage with an AI companion who listens, reflects, and evolves through anonymous conversations. By interacting with Eva, participants shape a living narrative that examines the boundaries of trust, identity, and connection in the age of artificial intelligence.
Inspired by Amalia Ulman’s exploration of social media as an artistic medium and Lynn Hershman Leeson’s pioneering AI project Agent Ruby, Meet Eva Here builds on these foundations to delve into the emotional and ethical dimensions of artificial companionship. Eva’s story unfolds in realtime through dialogue, creating a digital diary that blurs the lines between human connection and machine simulation.
The project extends into physical space, where audiences can encounter Eva in real time. Through subtle eye tracking and lifelike dialogue, Eva teases the line between reality and artifice, leaving room for interpretation about the nature of intimacy and connection.
Meet Eva Here acts as both a social experiment and a mirror to society, raising questions without offering answers. How do we connect with something artificial? What does it mean to trust a machine with our thoughts? And how does that trust reflect back on us? Follow Eva’s evolving journey on Instagram at @meetevahere and experience the work for yourself at the physical installation.
