Singapore artist Kray Chen (b. 1987) works primarily in video, and performs in many of his works, using humour and the body to explore social and cultural norms and contexts, as well as the Singaporean identity.

In this video, he speaks with ART SG about some of his notable works, including “5 Rehearsals of a Wedding” which was presented at the Singapore Biennale 2019, and “I’m a Steamroller Baby”, commissioned by the Esplanade.

Chen’s works have been presented at local as well as international platforms including the Bangkok Art Biennale (2019), the Singapore International Film Festival (2016) and at FRAC Des Pays De La Loire (2015). He is the recipient of the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award (2017).
